Reason and Emotion in Word and Image
The lustrum theme ‘Reason and Emotion’ will be connected to a series of lectures and (mini) exhibitions from the Leiden University collections.
Reason and Emotion: in Word and Image
The Studium Generale , the Academic History Museum and the Scaliger Institute will organise in the lustrum week and in the autumn of 2010, a series of lectures to call the attention of a large public to the lustrum theme: Reason and Emotion.
Renowned speakers from different disciplines, such as literature, history, economics, psychology, politics, natural science, philosophy and the fine arts, will be invited to discuss the lustrum theme from their point of view.
The series of lectures will be combined with several exhibitions of objects from the Leiden University collections. In all the lectures the speakers will link their stories to one or more of the objects on display in the showcases of the Academic Historical Museum in the Academy Building during the night of the lecture.
At the end of the series the lectures will be published in an illustrated collection.
