Dies Natalis 2012
The Celebration of the Dies Natalis takes place today at 15:00 hrs in the Pieterskerk, Pieterskerkhof 1A in Leiden.
There will be a live video broadcast of the ceremony, and a simultaneous translation will be provided in English.
Dies lecture
The Dies lecture will be delivered by Alex Geert Castermans, Professor of Civil Law, Director of Research and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law, and will be entitled Me and my rights in Europe.
Musical performance
The lecture will be followed by a performance by the Leiden Music Society Sempre Crescendo.
Honorary Doctorate
A Honorary Doctorate will be conferred on Professor Walter Van Gerven, emeritus Professor of European Law at the University of Leuven and member of the Advisory Body of the Netherlands Institute for Law and Governance (NILG). The Honorary Supervisor of the Honorary Doctorate is Christa Tobler, Professor of European Law, Faculty of Law, Leiden University. The dean of the Faculty is Professor Rick Lawson.
LSR Teaching Prize
The Chairman of the Leiden Student Council, Christel de Lange, will present the LSR Teaching Prize.
Reception
During the reception following the official ceremony there will be the opportunity to congratulate the Dies lecturer, the Honorary Doctor, the Honorary Supervisor and the dean of the Honorary Doctor and their partners.
The reception will start at approximately 16:30 hrs and end at 17:30 hrs.
